Baseball Predictions

There are still about 60 games to play this season but it is never too soon to take inventory on our teams. How do we think our teams have done so far this season? What do you think the next 60 games will be like? Would you like to see your team make a trade before the end of the season? Let the games begin...

  1. Twins are 7 games back of Detroit and Cleveland. Injuries destroyed this team and they haven't been able to dig out of the huge hole they put themselves in at the beginning of the season. Having Pavano pitch on opening day says it all. The division is still in reach but I think Detroits pitching will help them pull away this year.

The NL Central is whats up. This division is going to the final day. If the Pirates weren't from Pittsburgh I would hop of that bandwagon, but they are so fuck them.

  2. Yanks still have 9 games left against the Sox so I could see that division going to the last day of the season if that yanks can get a couple things sorted out....kinda lame there doesn't seem to be much potential for any good wild card races...east coast baseball is just superior...you could argue the NL central is the weakest division in baseball but its the most interesting so I would say the AL central is the worst because there is one good pitching staff in Detroit and nothing else cool about that division

  3. good work on the blog by the way joel...always abandon school and work for sports and screwing around on the internet

  4. I agree with the AL Central being a little down. The Indians could hang in there but they'll eventually realize that they are the Indians and start losing. You think the Rays will deal James Shields or you think they want too much?

  5. Thanks dog. I will probably spend most of my time on this so I need everyone to do the same so I don't feel like a big loser.

  6. I'm also super pumped about this blog. I'm literally just hoping that the Rockies don't deal Ubaldo at this point. The team has underperformed this season like crazy and a lot of the young pieces (Ianetta, Stewart, and Fowler) haven't panned out like everyone expected. I think it's going to be pretty quiet in the NL West at the deadline unless San Fran makes a move. The NL Central is filled with a bunch of pretty good teams but no one great. Top 4 in the majors this year are the Yankees, Sox, Phils, and Giants in no particular order with maybe the Braves are at the tail end.

  7. Yeah that top four is about it. Also, love the name. It works are some many levels and gives a shoutout to ya boy Earl III.

  8. Great work on the blog. I have PLENTY of time to kill at work so this is ideal.

The White Sox are like a slutty sorority girl with their teasing. They will win 3-4 in a row and you think they turned the corner and then lose 3 straight to the Royals. They can’t beat the teams in their division (and haven’t been able to for years) and that makes it almost impossible to win the central. I think they have the most talent in the division but a.) Ozzie b.) the offense is just destroying them so bad. Pretty much if Dunn and Rios were even average we would be at the top of the division. I think Dunn will be back to form next year, but Rios is just a piece of shit. He doesn’t even care and is a tool. I honestly would take out pitching staff over Detoilets. They are very strong at the top but we have a very very solid 1-6, who have pitched generally very well the whole season.

Something is supposed to be up with the Sox – Cards very soon involving the Sox getting Rasmus for either Buehrle or Q/Rios. Typical White Sox head scratching move. Hitting 245 in the NL, great. Honestly I think it will be Buehrle who goes. He is a huge Cardinals fan and has clearly stated he wants to pitch for the Cards before his career ends. He had a great run with the Sox but it is time to come to an end, with the abundance of starters it makes all the sense in the world. It is bad news for Brewers fans as he has the most interleague wins of all time and is 10-0 with a 1.79 ERA in his last 13 starts against National League teams.

If (most likely when) the Sox don’t make the playoffs, Ozzie must go, Walker (hitting coach) MUST go (I have no idea how he has a job) Pretty excited for Vicedio to be brought up ( “The Babe Ruth of Cuban baseball”)

    Anyways IMO:

Detoilet by 2-3 games over the Sox, 4-5 over the Twins and Indians
Yankees by 2 games over the Gay Sox (not that it matters, will be the ALCS)
Cardinals by 2 games over the Brewers. PITT has to fall out at some point…

  10. The Chicago Cubs just won 3 games in row for the first time of the season against one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball history. I am above and beyond ecstatic. Although Rudy Jarmillo and his sexy teaching abilities behind the bat have been pretty succesful for the lovable losers, everything else about the team is a rotting pile of animal shit. We have an awful GM in Jim Hendry, a coach that likes to blame an awful record on the fact that his awful players have been injured, and a pitching staff that can significantly increase a team batting average on any given night. I look forward to liquidating everything about this organization other than Starlin Castro and Darwin Barney (my new Ryan Theriot who can also go choke on a donkey dick). We have at least 2-3 seasons of absolutely nothing to look forward too other than watching players develop.

That being said, we are definatley bound to make a trade with the Yankees before the deadline. Take your pick from Soriano,Zambrano, or Fukudome and give us some farm boys. (We will be eating almost all of these contracts.) We also have the possiblity of trading Marmal who now has 7 blown saves on the season. Although he has sucked balls he is still young with potential and evidence that he can get the job done so there is still market value out there for him. The near future for this team is quite dismal. We also should not try and get Prince at the end of this season because it will be the same thing as having Sosa on the team in the 90's. Unless you plan on putting a team around him, don't waist all your fucking money on him.

Here are my end of year predictions. (Not very suprising.)
    AL East: Boston
    AL Central: Detroit
    AL West: Texas
    AL WIld Card: NY
    NL East: Philly
    NL Central: Milwaukee
    NL West: San Fran
    NL Wild: Atlanta

    -Boston over Detroit
    -Texas over NY
    -Philly over Milwaukee
    -Atlanta over San Fran

    -Boston over Texas
    -Atlanta over Philly

    W.S. Champs : Atlanta Braves

  11. The yanks need a starting pitcher but the market for starters suck right now...best case scenario they get Ubaldo and even then they are giving away their best prospects for a pitcher who is not having his most consistent year...I think the yanks should pursue beltran...it would be a two month 6 million dollar rental and theyd give up a prospect but what the hell...if the pitching market blows then make your offense explosive, especially if the alternative is letting him go to the red sox...with a-rod coming back healthy and picking up beltran that lineup would be unstoppable...upgrade over swisher although this would probably work more to keep posada the fuck out of the lineup seeing as though he likes to strikeout and ground into double plays to destroy rallys

  12. I don't know how I got this name but I dig it. Earl III is my boy even though he's gone as soon as the NBA comes back (but that's for another day). Rumors out there have the Rockies blowing it up for the year with ianetta, wigginton, and giambi likely on the move with Ubaldo at 50/50 for being traded. I think iambi could be a good fit for another NL contender (possibly brewers?). The guy crushes the ball and has proved over 2 seasons he is a clutch pinch hitter. Might be a cheap option for the pinstripes but that's kind of a slap in the face to posada who is already angry enough. I really think there are only 2 legit races down the stretch with the AL central having a my team under performs more contest and the NL east being interesting with the braves and Phils filing it out. I like randy's pick of Atl for the WS. Good pitching and some exciting young dudes (including Alby at 1st base). But today is awesome because the NFL is back and the broncos are still a toilet bowl team.

  13. like q has been saying, the yankees primary concern is pitching. If i said this is how i saw the season going for us I would be a fucking liar, but all things considered shits been going OK. Ideally we would be trading for a starter but the starting pitching market is thinner than doug's penis and the teams with someone worth trading for are asking for ridiculous packages (re: colorado asking for ivan nova, and the yankees top 4 prospects for ubaldo) I don't feel comfortable with bartolo colon or freddy garcia but they've done a good job considering the deals we signed them to. I think a healthy phil hughes coming back is like picking up a pitcher right now, hopefully that last start was him figuring some shit out, i heard he was tweaking the mechanics on his curveball. The bullpen as usual has been a position of strength even though we lost joba and rafael soriano was sucking more dicks than kylie denk in the frat basement before he got hurt. He'll be back soon and will hopefully be able to contribute.Ideally we trade for some 3/4 type pitcher or a solid bat who can keep posada out of the fucking lineup. The yanks have alot of guys coming off the dl who can provide a huge boost and who will carry them to the playoffs. Whether its the division or the wild card depends on how they play the sox down the stretch.

    Central:CLE

  14. How do the Yanks fans feel about Matt Thorton and Edwin Jackson who have been linked as players the Yankees have shown interest in? Apparently the next 6 games will decide whether the Sox blow it all up or go for it. Kenny Williams said he knows lots of contenders are pulling for Det this week.

Flow, I've been warming up to the idea of JR to the Bulls. Thib could get him to stop being a dipshit and it is an absolute perfect fit.

Rando, the Cubs just need to start from scratch. I think the Cubs best tool, Wrigley, is also their worst enemey in regards to the fact that there is no pressure on ownership to win cause ppl will still flock to stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The Cubs problem is that they didn't sell to Mark Cuban. They sold them to a stock brocker instead.

Jackson to the Cards for Rasmus is what I've been hearing the most. It makes more sense to me since the Cardinals are actually in a race and I can't see the Angels challenging for a Wild Card. But the Yankees are looking for playoff pitching as well so I'm not sure. Since the White Sox won last night I think if they split the last two against the Tigers that won't blow it up. They are only 3.5 back.

  16. I haven't heard anything about this but I feel like a pitcher like annibal Sanchez should be on the market at this time of the year. And I know PLO is about to steal his samurai swords and stab himself in the stomach but Javier Vazquez could be an end of rotation guy for someone too. And I'm pretty sure Scott Kazmir is a free agent so if you're trying to shore up the rotation those are a few guys who I think should get moved. Bottom line is that pitching for everyone not named the phillies or my fantasy baseball team has been down this year so I think the Yankees need to worry about texas or Boston adding another bat and making those lineups more intense. I still refuse to believe that Cleveland will hang around down the stretch. Too many young guys and too many star prospects that will need playing time when they are called up. Lonny Chisenhall has the best name in baseball though so you know he's gotta be good. But the Rockies are toast and I really just want to start talking some football so Joel, post a new comment about either the NFL or college and we can go nuts. NIB HIGH FOOTBALL RULES!

  17. the worst part about being a yankee fan is we start digging baseball hard at about the same time everyone else realizes they live in a cock sucking area that can only root for their cock sucking football team that plays 16 games...flowers you are a new yorker now so you can stop being a cock sucker any time now and just root for the yankees...or the mets if you want a lifetime of misery and shame..and cock sucking

  18. No comment posted after 1am should ever have less than four "cock suckers" in it.

Rasmus and Jackson trade went down. Vlad, you gonna miss Mark Teahen?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I went straight to bed for the rest of the night after hearing Teahen bounced.

Jeezus talk about a salary dump. I'm not even sure why the Jays threw in a pretty good prospect in Stewart.

Now I got a proposal. Rios & Dunn for Starlin Caastro?

  20. Did any of you guys see Weeks' injury last night? If you haven't check it out, it's nasty. Surprised it is only a sprain. Other Brewers fans know, when Weeks goes down, you cringe because you never know when he'll be back. And usually when he does come back he isn't the same player. Someone should keep track of average before and after the injury, I'd be willing to bet it drops 20 to 30 points. Great to see Doug Melvin making moves to replace him, talks are of Jamey Carroll...wait who the fuck is Jamey Carroll.

Also, the Brewers trade Wil Nieves to the Braves for cash considerations yesterday. I was surprised that the Brewers didn't have to pay the Braves to take his -.150 batting average. He was hitting around .160 in AAA. That is terrible.

However, I gotta say that if the Weeks injury doesn't turn out the be a big deal. I have a lot of confidence in the Brewers (especially if the Umps keep screwing over the Pirates). Braun is still hitting the ball and Prince is breaking out of his slump. With K-Rod and the AX man in the 8th and 9th, it takes a ton of pressure off of the starting rotation. Plus, Greinke's ERA is falling, and Narveson and Wolf have proved they can produce for the full season. I don't think the crew will make any moves except for adding Carroll. Carroll is hitting well so it is a good move for us and should help with this injury.

I hope Roenicke keeps the lineup like it is. I love Hart and T-Plush hitting before Braun and Fielder. Weeks is a much better 5-hitter so hope he comes back soon.

I love the Giants with Beltran now. Really wish Posey was healthy. Plus how can you not root for the Bearded One after the outfit he had on at the ESPY's.
